Born in the East Riding community of Holderness, the son of a local farmer and now residing in North Hull not far from the school itself. After completing my GCSE’s and A levels in Scarborough undertook a degree in Business marketing and management at Newcastle University. This course has stood me in good stead for my current role, but would not be the logical path for a PE teacher! After University I was lucky enough to travel on the back of a semi-professional Rugby contract in New Zealand, before a spell working with the Rugby Football Union.
Finally being accepted on to the graduate teacher programme at Kelvin Hall. After receiving excellent training, I then accepted position of responsibility at Graham school in Scarborough, followed by Driffield school and then the role of Head of PE at South Hunsley School.
Initially appointed as a Head of Faculty at Wyke Sixth Form College in 2014 with responsibility for the management and outcomes of four subject areas. My current role as a Curriculum Director oversees Seven different subjects as well as all of the colleges substantial Vocational courses and the Foundation year provision.
I am very much looking forward to becoming part of an effective governing body in an outstanding school. During my training and over the years I have worked with a number of Kelvin students. I have always been impressed with their maturity and commitment to study and am keen to support the school to optimise the outcomes for students, as well as develop closer links between the school and Wyke where possible.
