Year 10 Careers Offer
Autumn Term
  • Employer network advisor launch BAM Nuttall, presentation to pupils on Civil Engineering, how STEM subjects impact on our environment and the opportunities available in the sector. Q&A with pupils considering how BAM Nuttall can support and inspire Kelvin Hall Pupils.
  • Focus Group Activities – Who Am I - developing self-awareness, skills and personal qualities.
  • Launch-Pad – Pupils have the opportunity to take part in an enterprise challenge that builds a clearer understanding of work and promotes enterprise.
  • Careers Assemblies – a series of employer talks covering civil engineering, wind industry, manufacturing, engineering, design, graphics and IT, paramedic science, and health care careers.
  • Work experience information evening, a chance for pupils and parents to ask any questions they may have.
  • Work Experience Preparation Day – Covering safety in the workplace, problem solving, developing communication skills and teamwork skills.
  • Young Enterprise Company Programme - pupils run their own business throughout the academic year (links to maths and business), also taking part in the area showcase finals, developing business and accounting experience.
  • MFL Languages Visit to RAF Waddington.
  • Pupils are offered one to one guidance appointments with a qualified careers adviser. Appointments focus on pupils skills, interests and abilities, careers aims and pathway choices.)
Spring Term
  • Pre-visits to work experience placements for pupils requiring additional support.
  • All Y10 pupils on Work Experience placements providing pupils with real life experience of the workplace.
  • Humber Skills Event (Hull Venue), interactive careers event providing pupils with the opportunity to find out more about opportunities in their local area, meet with employers and chat to colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers.
  • Young Enterprise Company Programme.
  • Options Week (Health and Social Care and childcare pupils - Hull University Visit to nursing and medical, workshops with NCOP), careers workshop run by Hull University.
  • Options Week (RE, workshops with Hull University, 18th century law, modern day crime and punishment)
  • Options Week - Languages Workshops (Summit Media, Princes Trust, PH Interim, York University, Hull University.
Summer Term
  • Pupils attend taster days at Wyke College, Hull College, Wilberforce College and East Riding College. The pupils are able to sample the courses they may wish to study in the future and gain an overview of college life. The taster sessions cover academic, vocational and apprenticeship options. are provided.
  • One to one appointments.
